Today we are celebrating the end of the Cub Scout’s journey for the Webelos 2. We want to thank everyone in Pack 270 who helped us reach this moment. We would especially like to recognize our Den and Pack Leaders. To help us understand what this journey has meant to these graduating scouts, we have asked these boys to share some of their thought from their scouting experience.

‘My name is Joey
and I will be leaving Cub Scouts in February.
I started out as a Tiger Scout.
Over the years I have done so
many
things with my Den and with the Pack. Some
of my favorites are visiting a real radio station, sleeping at all the Museums,
fishing, making tool boxes, making my pinewood derby cars, visiting the Mayor
of Mount Prospect, Family Camping, making my arrow, singing
for the Seniors, earning my badges and belt loops. I had fun with my friends in my Den. I would like to thank all the Cub Masters, and my Den
Leaders. I had fun!’

‘In Cub Scouts I had a lot of fun, like going camping or just doing fun stuff. The thing I really like about Cub Scouts is when I went camping with my family, had the overnight sleepover at the Grove. I always liked going somewhere with my family and my friends. I learned so many new things I didn’t know! That is what Cub Scouts is all about. So… Yes! I love Cub Scouts!’

My favorite thing from Cub Scouts was the Pinewood Derby. A couple days before the race I like to imagine what place I'll come in. When the awesome race finally begins, I like to watch my car battle against the other cars. After all the cars’ race I enjoy when judges announce the top 8 cars that will race for the Championship. I knew I had a good chance of winning when they said I had the best time (2 years ago).

I really have enjoyed my time as a Cub Scout because you get to do amazingly fun activities and get to do really exclusive things. An example would be when we go camping - my parents would never be able to find a good camping location, but we didn’t
have
to - Cub Scouts have reserved camping specifically for all of us. My favorite scouting experience is when we
got to go to the Webelos camping because it is very fun. And not everything was
scouting related. We got to use BB guns and bows and arrows. We went swimming,
boating and learned all about fire safety and campfires.
Another one of my favorite things is that you can go to museums with practically nobody there except other Cub Scouts and get to even spend the night there.
Once a year, you can even make and decorate pine wood derby cars. Sometimes, we do rain gutter regattas, which are little boats in which you decorate like pine wood derby cars.
My family still has a little bit of popcorn from our popcorn sale, in which the popcorn is delicious, whether you like sweet or savory flavors. I still have that marshmallow-shooting gadget that I made a couple years ago with a ton of other fun crafts. We celebrated Chinese New Year by making lanterns out of paper. We gave blankets to seniors and gave them small crafts.
It is a fun way to make friends and do fun activities. Cub Scouts is an experience no boy should miss!

Check
your email regularly! With our busy schedules these days, many times the best means of communicating with the Pack – or your Den! – is via email. If there is a last minute change in an event, or if your Scout needs to be informed about items to bring to a Den meeting, you will probably receive an email about it! Make sure the Pack has your current email address! And if you receive an email from someone in the Pack requesting a response, sooner is always better than later!
